Collecting your COVID sample is a breeze and it only takes a little preparation to start a few easy steps!

The OmeCare COVID-19 assay is a real-time reverse transcriptase PCR test (rRT-PCR) intended for the qualitative detection of nucleic acid from the SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) virus during the active infection stage.

Nasal collection instruction

Wash and dry hand before opening the specimen collection swab. Open the packing and place all contents on a clean, dry surface.
Take the swab out if its package. Do not touch the cotton tip of the swab with your hands.
Screw off the top of the collection tube. Hold swab in one hand and collection tube in the other being careful not to spill the liquid. Do not drink the liquid.
Insert the tip of the swab into one nostril. The swab does not need to be inserted far – insert just until the tip of the swab is no longer visible. Rotate the swab in a circle around the entire inside edge of your nostril at least 3 times.
Take the cotton swab out of your nostril. Using the same end of the cotton swab, repeat step 5 in your other nostril.
Remove the swab from you second nostril and place in the collection tube. When inserting swab into tube insert the cotton swab portion downward and then break in half (at the break line on the stick). Screw the top of the collection tube back on.
Wash and dry hands thoroughly again. Insert collection tube into the biohazard specimen bag provided and seal the bag.

Saliva collection instruction

Wash and dry hand before opening the specimen collection tube. Open the packing and place all contents on a clean, dry surface.
On The collection tube clearly print your name (Last, First) and Date of Birth (DOB mm/day/year).
Screw off the top of the collection tube.
Spit into the collection tube l until it is filled to about the 1ml line (marked with a slot on outside of the tube).
Tip: To increase the amount sample in your saliva, close your mouth and rub your cheeks or wiggle your tongue.
Seal the saliva collection tube by securing the red plastic cap to the top of the tube and turning it clockwise.
Shake or invert the tube several times to make sure all of the preservation fluid is thoroughly mixed with the saliva.
Wash and dry hands thoroughly again. Insert collection tube into the biohazard specimen bag provided and seal the bag.
