Omecare PsychiatricMeds and Pain Tests are pharmacogenomic tests which means that they analyze how your genes may affect medication outcomes. The tests analyzes clinically important genetic variations in your DNA. Results can inform your doctor about how you may break down or respond to certain medications commonly prescribed to treat depression and/or issues with pain.
Our Genetics-Based Approach
Finding the right medication for patients with depression (or pain) can be challenging and result in a long period of trial and error. The PyshciatricMed/Pain tests analyzes how an individual’s genetic variations affect his or her response to medication and provides an actionable, easy to interpret report. When healthcare providers use the PsychiatricMed test to guide treatment decisions, patients diagnosed with depression are more likely to achieve remission versus treatment as usual.
PGx tests cannot confirm which medications or doses will work for a patient, they can help identify which medications may require dose adjustments, may be less likely to work, or may have an increased risk of side effects based on a patient’s genetic makeup

How DNA Can Improve My Medications
Any medical decisions should be made only after discussing the results with a licensed healthcare provider (ie. your physician) and results have been confirmed using clinical pharmacogenetic testing.
Your personal physician must order the PsychiatricMed or Pain tests. However, you can order our pharmacogenetic test directly and a licensed physician will review and approved the order before a kit is sent out to you. The generated final report will also be reviewed by a licensed physician before being sent to the patient; and a patient consult with an MD will be arranged if any issues arise.
The right medications are key to better pain management.

I use OmePainMeds a lot because I think, for me, dealing with patients who are so pharmaceutically geared, it’s important for them to know how destructive it can be. I had a patient who was addicted to opiates for over 20 yrs. I did the testing and it showed how destructive basically it was in terms of the metabolization in his body, so that was more of an impetus for him to go and try the medical cannabis and really get off of it. It was a very heart-wrenching process to watch him go through because you know people die from opioid withdrawal, but I really supervised him and I think with the labs and the results from the test, he was just more convinced.

So there are a number of key areas in the OmeHealth report that I spend more time going over with patients. The behavioral traits I spend quite a bit of time going over… and I actually have a checklist basically so I will identify which traits the patient has tested positive for then I’ll highlight those on a handout and give them tools–basically techniques that are specifically targeting those behavioral traits. Here’s your relationship with food, here’s why you’re having the trouble you’re having.
